School Speak Explanations

Annual Academic Report

On Monday we will be sending home our annual school reports for every child (except Red class – your child’s report will be written towards the end of term).

I have really enjoyed reading these reports and I’d like to thank the teachers for all the time they spend thinking about each child. We find it very helpful to write these reports before the end of term, so we all have time to work with the children on their areas for improvement before the summer holidays.

Our next parents’ evening is an Open Evening on Monday 7th July. If you’d like to discuss anything you read in your child’s report before then, please do speak to you child’s teacher.

Having read the reports, if you or your child would like to make any comments, please use the comments form that will come home in the envelope. We would like to record your thoughts, so these comments sheets will then be filed with the reports.

Whilst we endeavour to make them easy to read, we do occasionally use “school speak” so I have written some brief explanations for you to refer to if necessary. (Also available to download as a Word Document by clicking on the link below).

Talking partners

We pair the children to work together as talking partners. We allow the children time in lessons to talk together to discuss their learning, prepare answers together, share their knowledge and understanding.

We change the partners every 2/3 weeks, so children have the chance to work with a range of people.

If there are others, please do ask and let us know so we can add to the list for next year.

On the bottom of the sheet there is a section marked attendance and punctuality.

We are now attaching a print out of your child’s attendance up until Friday 2nd May, so this section is left blank. In terms of punctuality, lateness is marked on each attendance sheet as L. If we have any concerns about your child’s lateness we would have already spoken to you about that issue.
