Welcome to the Polehampton C of E Infant School Website
We are very proud of our school and feel privileged to play a part in the education of your children. We aim to make the school an excellent learning environment where children feel happy and secure, and where they will be challenged and supported in their learning. We hold regular Open Days for prospective parents or individual visits are available by appointment.
Next Open Day - Wednesday 24th September at 9.15am.
Come and see a typical morning at our school.
There is no need to book, but do call if you'd like more details.

What's New?
New School Mission Statement - This was written, after a lot of thought and discussion, by a working group made up of representatives from the staff, governors and parents. We hope that it reflects the ethos of our school and what we aim to achieve. The School Council will be talking about the new Mission Statement next week and will decide how best to share it with all the children. They will also be thinking about writing a school motto, so if you have any ideas for one please write them down and pop them in the suggestion box outside the office. Thank you!
Curriculum Activities - This term's curriculum activities are now available online.
Annual Academic Report - On Monday we will be sending home our annual school reports for every child (except Red class – your child’s report will be written towards the end of term). Whilst we endeavour to make them easy to read, we do occasionally use 'school speak' so I have written some brief explanations for you to refer to if necessary. Click here for a copy of the 'school speak' explanations.
Name Labels - Please can you make sure that all your child’s/children’s uniform is clearly named, especially coats, jumpers, cardigans and sunhats as these are being left on the playing field at lunchtime and are difficult to return if not labelled – thank you.
Christian Aid Week - We have decided to support Christian Aid’s appeal to raise money to support the victims of the cyclone in Burma. See Newsletter 30 for more details.
A Service of Prayer in School - 9am, Thurs 15th & 22nd May. See Newsletter 30 for more details.
Parenting Course or Workshops - Wokingham are running some excellent courses for parents. See Newsletter 30 for more details.
Parking - Please can we ask new parents not to park on the grass verge opposite the school entrance when dropping off and collecting their children.
Cash For Schools Tokens - Twyford Advertiser
£10,000 will be distributed between all participating schools that collect a minimum of two tokens per pupil, which means we need to collect at least 318 tokens. There is a collecting box in the office, please bring in your tokens.
BBC Bite size - Great for practising numeracy and literacy skills, particularly for year two children. Take a look for great activities and games for your child to have fun while learning. http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/ks1bitesize
Road Safety - We are currently monitoring the roads around school. Whilst we always hope there are no incidents, we would really appreciate it if you could let us know if anything does happen in the area surrounding the school - incidents such as speeding drivers or near misses. We can then pass this information to the local authority so they have an accurate picture of school road safety in our area. Please either tell Jim, our lollipop man or let someone in the office know and we will keep a record. Thank you.
E-Safety - We have found this short video the CBBC web-site which you might think is appropriate to watch with your child, depending on how much access they have to the internet at home. Take a look yourself first so you can decide if it’s worth a look now or sometime in the future. http://www.bbc.co.uk/cbbc/help/safesurfing/cartoon.shtml
Our Suggestion Box - sits outside the office and is painted a beautiful orange-yellow colour. This is a great way to be in touch with the school if you haven't got time for a chat and for the children to suggest ideas. The School Council checks the box and discusses how to work on the suggestions. Miss Perkins takes any of more complex issues to a staff meeting for consideration.
