Newsletter No. 17
Friday 18th January 2008

Dear Parents, Carers and Governors,

Welcome to Mrs Stephanie Grove
I am delighted to announce that  Mrs Stephanie Grove will be starting work with us next Tuesday as our new finance officer. We hope she will be very happy here at school. Mrs Goddard will spend some time handing over, so we will say goodbye to her shortly.

Goodbye and thanks to Mr Andy Felton – Community Governor
Mr Andy Felton has been a governor at our school for many years in the role of community governor. He has done a significant amount of work behind the scenes to support, challenge and develop the school, particularly in the area of the school site and health & safety. Unfortunately work commitments now means he is unable to get into school during the day, so he has resigned his post. We will miss his enthusiasm and knowledge. Many thanks to him for everything he’s done for the school.
We will be looking for a new governor from the local area to fill this post. It’s not a parent governor role, but if you do know anyone who might be interested in supporting the school to develop its role in the community, particularly if they have a knowledge of building regulations, health and safety and access issues, do put them in touch with me for a conversation.

Admissions 08/09
Please do remember to send your form to Wokingham Borough Council if your child is to start or move school next academic year. We cannot accept forms into school now – you must either post the form or complete the form on-line. If you are late, your application will be considered after everyone else. Please remember our school was over-subscribed last year and we still have a waiting list for our current foundation stage class. If any parents would like assistance with completing the form they can contact Tammy Howard, the Preference Adviser on 0118 9352255

Education Sunday – St. Mary’s Church
This Sunday, St. Mary’s Church will be marking Education Sunday with a contribution from some of our pupils. I asked the children in assembly who attended this church regularly and some children kindly volunteered to help. If you will be attending St. Mary’s on Sunday and I haven’t been in touch with you, do ask your child if they’d like to join us to sing the school song.

PTA Meeting
Please note that the PTA Meeting is to be held on Monday 21st January at 8.00pm in the school hall and NOT Wednesday 23rd January as stated  in the PTA Newsletter – apologies for any confusion!

Weather Forecast
Rain on Saturday, Cloudy Sunday!

Have a great weekend,

Helen Ball
Headteacher.
