Newsletter No. 16
Friday 11th January 2008

Dear Parents, Carers and Governors,

Welcome to our New Children
It was lovely to welcome our new children in Blue class and throughout the school on Tuesday. Everyone looked so smart in their new uniforms. We all hope you will be very happy here.

Educational Welfare Officer (EWO)
When our EWO has monitored the registers just before Christmas, she mentioned her concerns over the number of children whose attendance is rather low. She has asked me to write to some parents individually so you know your child’s current attendance percentages. We mostly receive very timely and clear communications from parents about absence and are aware of on-going issues for some of our children. However, we must work together to ensure that all absence is kept to a minimum to ensure every child has good access to learning.

Admission forms for next academic year
Please don’t forget you only have 2 weeks to complete your admission forms. For all pupils starting school next year and all year 2 pupils moving up to the Junior School, forms need to be returned to Wokingham Borough Council by Friday 25th January.

Nativity Costumes – help needed!
Whilst we have finished with Christmas shows for this academic year, we need to make some repairs to our costumes and it seems sensible to do it now, whilst it’s fresh in our minds. If any parents could help with sewing, edging and repairing, we’d really welcome it!
Mrs Wiseman, who works in yellow class will run a little workshop next Wednesday 16th January first thing in the morning. Do pop along if you are able to help out. If you would be able to take things home to work on, ask Mrs Wiseman and she can sort some bits and pieces out for you.

Activemark
We are proud to announce that as part of the North Cluster of schools, we have achieved the prestigious Active Mark recognising our commitment to providing top quality sporting opportunities for all our children.

Open Day for Prospective Parents
Next Tuesday 15th January at 9.15am, we will be holding an Open Day for prospective parents. If you know of anyone who might be interested in sending their child to our school, either next year or sometime in the future, do mention it to them. The session will last about an hour and no appointments are necessary.

Baby Items needed!
Blue class would like any donations of feeding bottles, dummies, small baby/dolls clothes, changing mats and bibs.  They would also like any empty containers from baby lotion, talcum powder, cream, wipes etc and empty boxes from baby food or medicines – Thank you.

After School Clubs
After school clubs will all start w/c 14.01.08.
Monday – French Club
If your child has not attended this club before please can you come into the office on Monday morning so that I can put your child’s name onto the list.
Tuesday – Fit’n’ Funky
Please see attached letter – places are limited to 25. These will be offered on a first come first served basis. Please return to the school office with payment on Monday morning to reserve your child’s place.
Wednesday – Football Club
Unfortunately we are only able to offer 16 places therefore these places will be offered to Reception and Year 1s for the Spring Term, and Year 2s for the Summer Term as this seemed the fairest solution.  Again please return completed form and payment to the office on Monday morning.
Thursday – Spanish Club
If your child has not attended this club before please can you come into the office on Monday morning so that I can put your child’s name onto the list.

PTA News
The next PTA Meeting will be held at 8.00pm on Monday 21st January in the school hall, everyone is welcome to attend.

School Song
One of our new year’s resolutions is to all learn our School Song! We have been practising this week in assemblies, so the children should all know the tune and some of the words quite well. The words can br downloaded from a link on our Homepage.
