Newsletter No. 13

Friday 7th December 2007

Dear Parents, Carers and Governors,

Piggott Senior Children – Story-telling workshop

Our year two children had a real treat this week, as six Year 7 pupils from the Piggott Senior school came along and ran storytelling workshops. It great for our pupils to work with and learn from older children.

The Sleepy Shepherd

Thursday’s performance will commence at 2.00pm and not 2.30pm as stated in last weeks newsletter – sorry for any confusion.  The deadline for tickets was today.  We will only be issuing 2 tickets per child initially, however if you would like any additional tickets please come into the school office on Tuesday to check availability – thank you.

No Buggies in School

As we approach Christmas fairs and Nativity plays, can I remind you that we cannot have any buggies or pushchairs in school. For safety reasons, we just do not have the space to accommodate these and all our children, parents and visitors – thank you.

Mrs Goddard

I am sad to inform you that our finance officer, Mrs Liz Goddard will be leaving next term. She will be greatly missed for her super way with the children and for keeping the school’s finances on track. Her position is advertised on the Wokingham web-site and will be in next week’s Advertiser.

Tesco Sports Vouchers – a final plea!

Christmas Fair

I hope to see you tomorrow at our Christmas Fair. There is so much going on! For those of you who weren’t here last year, don’t forget the special Secret Room- sssh! In Blue class, lots of school staff will be ready to wrap up little gifts for mums, dads, family and friends. There is one thing to remember – No Grown-ups allowed!!!!

We are looking forward to seeing you all at the Christmas Fair tomorrow. We will have a variety of raffles and tombolas, and there will also be lots of games to play, activities to try, things to make and prizes to be won! Father Christmas will be making a special appearance from 2pm so please don’t forget to come and join us for lots of Christmas fun!!

Christmas Tree - Thanks to Maddie and The Johnsons

I’m sure those of you who’ve seen it will have admired our fabulous Christmas Tree. Well done Maddie for choosing such a lovely tree and a big thanks to the Johnsons for organising this, even though you don’t have children here at the moment!

Thanks to the PTA

All the PTA are doing such a wonderful job at the moment, we’d like to remind you what it all goes towards and say a big thank you! The PTA contributed £500 towards the cost of the coaches and have completely paid for the Puppet Show, which we’ll all enjoy in the last week of term.

School Council News

School Council met this week and were really pleased that everyone was there for the meeting.  We looked at some suggestions which had been put in the Suggestion Box, which led to a discussion about how to improve the management of the Buddy Bus Stop in the playground.  The Year Two School Councillors have taken on responsibility for this.  We also went out into the playground to decide where Mrs Martin’s Playground Rules should be put up on the wall – watch out for this appearing soon!  All the School Councillors have had discussions with their classes to gather ideas for the new playground and they fed these back in the Council meeting.
