Newsletter No. 12

Friday 30th November 2007

Dear Parents, Carers and Governors,

Pantomime

Oh, yes we did!  What a great time we had at the pantomime today!

A huge thank you to all the staff and volunteers who came with us today.

Christingle Celebration

This is designed especially for primary aged children, so do come and join us and  ‘light a candle in the darkness’ at St Mary’s Church on Sunday 9th December at 4.30pm.

This popular all age service ends with the church full of candlelight as we each hold our Christingle  or 'Christ Light'. A moment of reflection in our preparations for Christmas.  There will also be a collection for the 'Children's Society'.  An opportunity to light a candle in the darkness.

Closing date for next academic year – 25th January 2008

Application forms should be in the post for pre-school children from the Local Authority, so please contact the admissions department at Wokingham if you don’t receive your forms shortly. All Year Two children were given their forms this week from school. The advice is to send these directly to the Local Authority or complete the form on-line. We will accept them into school until Friday 18th January. After that, you must return them to the council yourself.

No Buggies in School

As we approach Christmas fairs and Nativity plays, can I remind you that we cannot have any buggies or pushchairs in school. For safety reasons, we just do not have the space to accommodate these and all our children, parents and visitors – thank you.

Our Christmas Production this year is ‘The Sleepy Shepherd’ there will be three performances – two on Thursday 13th December and one on Friday 14th December.  The 2.00pm performance on Thursday is for little ones also.  Tickets are limited to 2 per child, please complete the slip at the end of the newsletter with your requirements and return to school office asap, and no later than Friday 7th December – thank you.

Lost Property

PTA News

Christmas Fair - Saturday 8th December 2-4pm

1.      Thank you for all the contributions to the children's tombola, bottle tombola and secret room. We are well on the way but are still in need of bottles (particularly drinks and kitchen bottles rather than bathroom bottles), smaller items for the children's tombola and secret room gifts suitable for Dads. Please take these to the office.

2.    The children and teachers are working hard on making the class hampers look beautiful but they are still rather empty! Please ensure that you return hamper contributions directly to the class teacher so that we don't accidentally have them on the wrong stall!

3.    Any small cakes or biscuits for the cake stall will be gratefully received and can be brought to school on Thursday or Friday of next week.

4.    Thank you to everyone who has already sold their raffle tickets and returned the counter-foils. If you need more, please let us know. There is a prize for the family who sells the most tickets! Please return all money, unsold tickets and counterfoils (with name and phone number so we can contact the winners) by 5th December to the office.

5.    We are judging the decorated stocking competition on Monday morning - last chance to return them 9am!!
