Friday 9th November 2007
Dear Parents, Carers and Governors,
Children In Need - Bring a Bear to School Day - Friday 16th November
We always enjoy this day in school! As part of our charity work for good causes, we ask for a donation of £1 per child which allows us all to bring a bear to school for the day. Lots of fun and bear-like activities (!) take place, whilst remembering what it's all for.

Bring your mum or dad to lunch week - 19th November
It's that time again! If you would like to have a school dinner with your child, please complete the slip at the bottom of this newsletter. The cost of an adult dinner is £1.94. We need these returned by next Friday, 9.00am so Mrs Potter can put her order in - many thanks.
Volunteers - Thanks again!
Purple Class were in a state of high excitement when they came into class and discovered their lovely red doors! In fact, all the children have been admiring the new paint work and tidy gardens, so thank you from them!
Twyford and District Round Table
In assembly last week, we had a presentation from the Round Table to our children for their entries to the Bonfire Carnival Art Competition held on October 27th. The quality of the drawings was very high and the winning drawings can be seen on http://www.twyfordroundtable.org. Our winners were:
Years 1&2 competition
Ryan Sewell, runner up
Katy Lawrence, First Prize
Yellow Class Assembly
Well done to Yellow Class for their fantastic assembly this week, showing us their vehicles. We were very impressed!
Using the car park
As you know, we do not have much space for cars in the school car park. Some parents do use it for collecting from after school clubs. This is allowed but please be careful, particularly on football night, as it's getting dark and there are lots of little ones out on the pitch and moving around the car park area.
Aladdin
Please find details attached for our school trip to the Panto. Please can you return permission slips together with payment to the school office in an envelope marked 'Panto' asap - thank you.
Book Fair
Your last chance to buy from the book fair will be on Monday morning.
The Sorbus tree outside the office
I'm afraid to say that our lovely sorbus tree by the fence outside the school office will be coming down this weekend. It has a fungal infection which can't be treated. I will miss this tree and it's lovely autumn colours. However, the PTA has some funds to buy another tree from the fundraising we did earlier this year, so we will be looking to replace it shortly.
Skate Park Building Works, King George V playing field.
We believe this work is due to start on Monday 12th November and to be completed by Friday 14th December, therefore please be aware if you use this route to school that diggers will be operating in the area around the Youth Shelter, which may mean that the footpaths could be closed for a period of time.
PTA news
1. We are sending home an early Christmas present for the Year 1 and Year 2 families today - 2 tea towels! The PTA organized these as a fundraiser last Christmas but unfortunately we did not sell as many as we had anticipated and were left with over 200! If you feel that you could make a small donation (perhaps 50p for each tea towel) then we would be very grateful to receive it via the office (mark envelopes 'PTA tea towels' please). However, they are yours to keep whether you wish to make a donation or not, so please enjoy!
2. We are very excited about the craft and shopping evening tonight, from 7-10pm. We already have nearly 50 people attended, but still have spaces for more if you would like to join us at the last minute. Hope to see you there.
3. Next Wednesday (14th) is our next PTA meeting at school at 8pm - we hope many of you will join us there as we start planning towards the Christmas fair
4. Thursday 15th is our next cake sale - this time with Year 1 providing the goodies. A reminder slip will go out next week, but please could year 1 families plan to bring cakes in on Thursday and everyone plan to bring some money to spend.
5. Could we also encourage any of you doing online shopping to look at the letter you received this week about our online Webshop at www.buy.at/Polehampton . You can also link to it from the PTA page on the school website. It is such an easy way to help raise funds for the school, so please ask any of the PTA team if you would like more information.
