Newsletter No. 04
28th September 2007

Curriculum Enrichment donations (used to be called 'Arts and Crafts' donation).
We will be sending home letters requesting donations today. We would be most grateful for your support in this matter.

Two Parent Governors needed
Would you like to take a more involved role in developing the school? We have 2 spaces for parent governors and would be delighted to receive nominations for these important posts. There will be letters coming home with all the detailed information, but for those of you who might be interested, do come and have a chat about the roles and responsibilities. Also the governor web-site is a very useful place to find out about the role. http://www.governornet.co.uk/

Non-uniform Day
Many thanks for today's donations, which will go towards art equipment for the new term.

Twyford Advertiser - Peace Assembly photos
There are some lovely photos of some of our children from last week's Peace Assembly at the Junior School. Do take a look and see their enthralled faces! If you would ever like to order a photo that's in the Advertiser, call their office on 01628 670145 and quote the reference number beneath the picture.

Blue Class
We're all looking forwards to you staying all day next week.

Purple Class Assembly
Thank you, purple class for your great assembly this week. It was so great to hear about how grown up you all are now you're in year two

Head lice
I do apologise for the reoccurrence of head lice in the school. Children do grow out of it as they become less tactile with each other and the spread of the lice can't take place. But whilst they are at infant school, we all have to be vigilant and check hair at least once a week. One parent has recommended to me that shampoo that contains tea tree is a good general protection, so that might be worth a try if your child seems to suffer regularly.
The joys of childhood!

PTA News
Thanks to all those who came to our PTA meeting this week - we had a very encouraging turnout, and a lot of great ideas were discussed.
Next week we have our first cake sale of the year on Thursday 4th October, with year 2 parents and children providing the cakes and all of us (hopefully!) buying them. Could year 2 parents please bring cakes in on the day (homemade or shop bought) and take them to the office. The stall will be set up outside blue class about 3pm so do arrive a little early for pick up that day or you may find the choice rather limited! Small change always appreciated but not essential.

Open Day for Year One and Two
We look forwards to seeing some of you next Monday, for out first Open Day for parents of children in Years One and Two. The times are 9.15-10.15am and 2.00-3.00pm. The idea is for parents to pop in and see what happens on a typical school day.
You do not have to come for the start or stay for the whole session. In fact you might want to visit a couple of classes or all four.
I'm afraid we can?t accommodate younger children at this event, as it is our regular teaching time and we would be too over-crowded.

Volunteers Days - Friday 2nd and Saturday 3rd November
Would you be free to help improve the learning environment at school? We need some help with gardening and some small painting jobs inside.
After consulting with parents at the PTA meeting this week, we have decided to have 2 sessions this time - one on a school day, so you can come along and your child will be busy in class and one on a Saturday, so working parents can get involved.
Do put these dates in your diaries and I'll ask about numbers nearer the time.

Local Weather Forecast
Cloudy with sunny intervals on Sunday!

Have a great weekend,

Helen Ball
