Newsletter No. 38
Friday 6th July 2007
Dear Parents, Carers and Governors,
PTA Summer Fair .
Wow - wasn't this a success! We didn't let the rain dampen our spirits! I think we enjoyed ourselves just as much. You may have seen the delighted faces of PTA committee members around the playground as the incredible total was discovered - £1500 PROFIT! Thank you so much for everyone's work and for coming along and making it a great day for all the children. There are some great photos - the Twyford Advertiser, The Reading Chronicle, our web site and 2ten FM's site all have fun shots of the day.

School Council Review of the Year
Please find attached to this newsletter a copy of the school council's review of the year. I am so proud of what they have achieved and the difference they have made to school life. They will be reporting back in assembly next week too and hopefully inspiring children to stand as councillors next year.
Green Class
Thanks for your very grown- up assembly today, Green Class! You have learned so much in so many different ways!!
Children's Art Exhibition
Didn't the children do some fantastic work for their framing exhibition? I know the children often bring home their drawings and models but I think it's so nice to have something special that you can keep forever. It's not too late to buy your child's work. Send in £6 in a named envelope or pop into the office - the last chance will be next Friday at 9.00am.
VeggieBox! At St Mary?s Church & Church Centre
Coming soon - a week of fun and learning for children aged 5-11.
This year's ChattaBox holiday club will feature Bob the Tomato, Larry the Cucumber and their friends from the VeggieTales series. From Tuesday, August 28th - Friday, August 31st, from 10am - 12noon, we'll be meeting in St Mary's Church & Church Centre for games, craft, songs, quizzes - and VeggieTales stories - led by the Revd Simon Howard and his team. And on Sunday, September 2nd at 10.30am we'll be in St Mary's for a special VeggieBox Family Service. It costs £10 for the four mornings; get your booking form from the back of one of the churches. More information from the Church Office - 934 4792.
IMPROVING YOUR CHILD'S BEHAVIOUR AND LEARNING THROUGH FOOD
Leading nutrition training centre: CNELM (The Centre for Nutrition Education and Lifestyle Management) and cookery writer, chef and health trainer Christine Bailey will be running a parents' cookery workshop - Improving your child's behaviour and learning through food on Saturday September 29, 2007.
This half-day workshop will explore how making the right food choices could transform your child's behaviour and learning and in particular may help children with dyslexia, attention disorders and hyperactivity. It will provide the answers to the questions asked by many parents on what foods will help boost your child's performance and concentration and which ones to avoid.
Race For Life
So, the weeks of staff's hard training will be put to the test next Wednesday, as we take on the 5K Race for Life!!! Thank you for all the sponsors so far, we hope to be collecting these on Thursday morning!
If you'd like to donate you can also go on-line and do it that way.

Last Clubs of the Year
Next week will be the last session for French, Judo and Football. Spanish finished last week.
There is no Fit n Funky next week; the last one is on Tuesday 17th July.
We will be having all these clubs again next academic year, so watch out for all the news on that in September.
The Twyford Advertiser - the Front Page!
I'm sure most of you have seen the front page of this week's paper. Do take a peek if not, as it shows some of Yellow Class enjoying their dance lesson with Thabani. Every class really enjoyed this - you can see the concentration on their faces!
Twyford Festival
I hope to see many of you at tomorrow night's first ever Twyford Festival!
Fingers crossed again on the weather - I seem to have said that a lot this summer!
The Old Shire Horse Centre
One of our parents has left some leaflets in the main entrance giving us some ideas on what to do during the Summer Holidays. This includes the opening of a Craft Village and Animal Farm at "The Shire Horse Centre", it is well worth a look!
