Dear Parents, Carers and Governors,

Mrs Martin - Thank You, Good Bye and Good Luck!
What an emotional day it's been today, saying good bye to Mrs. Martin!
We held a lovely assembly, with songs, poems, a little play and words of thanks and a prayer for the future.
Thank you for your many contributions to Mrs Martin's gifts. As well as the flowers and cards, balloons, a framed picture of the school, chocolate fountain (thanks PTA!), we bought Oracle gift vouchers with donations, so Mrs Martin can treat herself!

I am delighted to announce that we have appointed a new school secretary - Mrs Julie Dobson, who will start on Monday 2nd July. In the meantime, Mrs Rodgers will be standing in as secretary, so I'm sure the transfer will be as smooth as possible. Do please bear with us if some things take a little longer than usual!

"Today was a very emotional day for me and I still don't know how I managed to stay so composed. I guess I didn't want the children to see me cry which may have confused and upset them which is why, when I had a few moments to myself, I did have a few tears. The six years I've had here have been wonderful and I will miss the children so very much. I wish to pass on my thanks for the wonderful gifts and good wishes from the PTA, Governing Body, Parents and of course the children who have been giving me cuddles all day. I hope to be able to pop in from time to time, and still wish to challenge those of you who dare enter the PTA Quiz Night!!!! Thank you all so very much" Lesley Martin

Year Two Buddy Dates
This exciting programme is about to start! Dates have been arranged, buddies have been allocated and the Year 3 teachers have been warned! 
Let me explain our plans! We want our pupils to have a smooth and easy transition to their new school. So our year two pupils get to know the older pupils at in a positive, friendly way, each Yr2 child is matched with a Yr5 "Buddy". This makes the oldest children our friends - someone to go to if we need a friendly face. They come down to the infant school, make friends and generally have a fun time getting to know the older pupils. Then we visit the junior school and our buddies give us a tour.
I know the Yr 5 children are very excited at the prospect of being a buddy - they remember being buddies themselves when they were in Yr2 as they were the 1st year of the programme.
We also have a transition at staff level. The two teachers who will be in Yr3 next year visited today to meet the pupils and we have arranged a staff meeting so the academic records can be handed over through discussion.
This system has been in place now for a number of years and alongside our many joint events with the Junior School, we find that our pupils have a very successful transfer to their next, "big" school!
So, the dates are?
- Friday 8th June - Yr3 teachers visit the Infants
- Thursday 14th June - Yr5 buddies visit the Infants
- Tuesday 26th June - Yr2 visit the Juniors and meet up with their buddies
- Monday 2nd July - Yr2 visit the Juniors and meet their new teacher

Birthday sweets
A friendly reminder that we will not distribute birthday sweets. We wish to promote healthy eating and would ask that these treats be saved for birthday parties etc. Thank you.

A New date for Class Photos
We had a slight mix up with our photographer this week! So class photos will now be on Friday 15th June - all looking shiny that day, please!

Twyford Festival
This is a very exciting event that we are organizing jointly with the Junior school. The proceeds will be divided between both schools. This event will be known as "The Twyford Festival" and we are hoping that it will be the first of many community events, sponsored by both schools, which will further enhance our strong links with the wider community.
So, we need your support to make this event happen!
Each week I will tell you a little bit more of what will be in store..
Go dust down your gazebos, deck chairs and picnic baskets for the event of the Summer.

Saturday 7th July 5.00 till late held at the junior school field
