Newsletter No. 33
Friday 25th May 2007

Dear Parents, Carers and Governors,

The Tree Blessing
What a lovely event this was! It was so good to have Revd. Simon here to bless our new maple tree and thank all the children for their donations to Christian Aid Week. We've raised £118.50 so far. Please do drop in any outstanding contributions you'd like to make.
It was lovely to be joined by Mr Richard Rudman, on behalf of the Round Table, who made the donation that allowed us to buy the tree. We've ordered a plaque to be put up to remind everyone of when and why we planted the tree. The photographer from the Twyford Advertiser came for the event; so do take a look in next week's paper.
Take a look at the web-site for pictures of the event.

"We're Polehampton Infants!"
The Tree Blessing also saw the first public singing of our school song "We're Polehampton Infants!" In fact, this is proving so popular that we're sending home the words with today's newsletter, so you can all sing it at home!!!
We particularly need to practice the 2nd and 3rd verses, so that's your holiday homework!!!
There is a link to the words on our web-site, in case you want to have another copy - thanks again to Mrs Smitheyman for writing that for us.

Orange Class assembly
What a fantastic play you did for us this week!! It impressed me even more when I learned that the story was all your own work! There are a couple of great shots on the Orange Class page of our web-site. http://www.polehamptoninfant.ik.org/

Year One Cake Sale
This yummy event raised just over £90.00 and I did also enjoy the taster of the Krispy Kreme donuts that were on offer. You will be able to order these for collection at the Summer Fayre - more information to follow!

Hats, Sun-cream and lots of Water for the last summer half term
Now the weather is hotting up, please do make sure that your child has a good hat for play and lunchtimes. Recent reports indicated that the best protection comes from clothes, although we do recommend using a long-lasting sun-cream as well. When it becomes very hot, the lunchtime play will be cut short. Now we have two sittings for lunch anyway, children are not out for an extended period anyway. Please also remember that every child should have a named water bottle in school, which is refreshed every day.
Since last summer, we have installed fans and blinds in every classroom, so we hope this makes a difference to the temperatures inside.

Breakfast Survey
Thanks for all your responses. What they have shown is that there is only a little demand at present - 4 from us, making it only 12 in total from both schools, with only half of those wanting every day. It seems that this may change over time, as more people said they would be interested eventually. We've passed these figures onto the local authority to see what they can do for us. I will get back to you when I hear the next plan.

Non-uniform Day for fundraising!
Thank you for your donations for the non-uniform day. We raised £123 towards our annual African dance workshop run by Thabani, who has visited us for the last three years. Thank you.

Addition to School Menu
Please find attached a packed lunch menu on offer in addition to hot school meals. To make this easy to administer, when you send in dinner money, we will assume that you want your child to have a hot meal. If you would prefer your child to have a sandwich lunch, then please pop a note into their purse, so Mrs Potter knows how many to prepare and who they're for.

I can't quite believe it's the last half term holiday for this academic year! Do have a wonderful break and we'll see you in June.

Local Weather
Saturday, sunny with clouds, Sunday and beyond, light showers!!

Best wishes
