Newsletter No. 28
Friday 20th April 2007

Dear Parents, Carers and Governors,

Welcome back and Welcome to Red Class!!!
It has been so lovely this week to see all our friends in Red Class join us this week. Also a big welcome to Mrs Margaret English, our new teacher in Red Class and to Mrs Natalie Potter, who joins us as one of our lunchtime controllers this term.
We hope everyone will be very happy here!

Red Class Parents Meeting
We will be holding a meeting for Red Class parents on Friday 27th April at 9.00am. Mrs English and I will both be there. The purpose of this meeting is to give everyone a chance to discuss routines and procedures which is helpful to clarify after the first couple of weeks. We will also be talking about the school day, how we will be teaching literacy and numeracy skills and giving some ideas of how you can help at home. The meeting will last about 30minutes.
In the mean time, if there are any questions at all, please see any member of staff - we are all here to help your child settle in to school and give them the best possible start.

The Farm is visiting the School!!
Next week on Wednesday, a visiting farm will be in school for the day. It will be based on the school field. This is an excellent learning opportunity for the pupils and lots of fun!
We should know every child's allergies and medical needs from their admission forms, but please let us know if there is any new issues we should be aware of, in relation to this or any other school based activity.
Please help us by keeping any smaller children safety away from the area.
Also any pregnant women should keep well away from the area, as they may be bringing lambs, which has health implications for expectant mums.

Tesco Vouchers/Sainsbury Vouchers
Please keep collecting these valuable tokens. We are well ahead of our previous targets so many thanks.

Book Amnesty
Please check at home if you have any reading books to be returned. Some of our home-reader boxes seem a little empty.

Changes to lunchtime arrangements
After much discussion at School Council Meetings and in classes, about how to improve lunchtime arrangements, we are going to try a new arrangement for seating the children at lunchtimes. The children will sit at the same table for lunch everyday in a "lunchtime family" with some children from each year group. Each family has a fruit name. The children will go straight to their table rather than having to queue up for their dinner. We will have two sittings for lunch in order to be able to accommodate all the children comfortably in the hall. This will not make any difference to children's choice of having a school dinner or packed lunch.
This has been explained to the children in assembly today and will start from Monday.

PE Kits
As the warmer weather approaches, the children will need to bring in plimsolls or trainers for PE as these lessons will be taken outside on the field.
PLEASE LABLE EVERYTHING! We ask that ALL items of school uniform be labelled, as we tend to have many mislaid jumpers, particularly in the warmer weather.

Caps/Beanie Hats
We have new style legionnaire caps for sale at the same price as the old style, £3.00. The Beanie Hats also remain at the same price of £2.50.
As the weather gets warmer it is important to have head protection.

Local Weather
Sunny and bright, few clouds.

Best wishes
