Dear Parents, Carers and Governors,

Purple class assembly
What a clever assembly from Purple class this week. Lots of work on sounds and spelling. We all learnt a lot from you! Take a look at Purple class's page on our web-site for photos of us and our tricky words!

The new menu
We have now enjoyed all four weeks of the new menu. There are some very yummy dinners on offer. We will soon be in touch with another "Bring your mum or dad to lunch" week, so watch this space!
The only meal which didn't go down well was the BBQ pork (we really didn't like it much at all!!) which we had on Tuesday this week. Our cook, Mrs Potter, recommends that on that day, she actually cooks a larger amount of Macaroni Cheese, which is the vegetarian option for that day. This dish is much more popular, so children will be able to choose that instead. Do let us know if you have any other opinions, as Edwards and Ward genuinely listen to our ideas.

Parents evening - next Monday and Tuesday
I hope you have all returned your slip indicating your preferred time for next week's important meetings. Don't forget to pop up to the computer suite to see a demonstration of our up-dated web-site. Also the Children's Information Centre will have a stand in the hall. This service has a wealth of information about local children's services, so do take a look!

Year Two Parents Meeting
I hope those of you who were able to make it found Monday's meeting useful. A copy of the handouts will be sent home today for those who weren't able to come. Do take a look and ask any questions at parents evening next week.

Comic Relief - we will be selling Red Noses!!!!!!
Comic Relief was launched this week. We have ordered enough noses for every child in the school and will be encouraging children to bring their noses in on Red Nose day, which is Friday 16th March.

Roadworks & Parking on Hermitage Drive
These roadworks are causing a few problems at the Hermitage Drive entrance, so please ensure you park well away from the school entrance to ensure there is good visibility for pedestrians and drivers - thank you.

Marwell Zoo Adoptions
Using some of the money that was raised by the PTA cake sales, each class has chosen to adopt an animal from Marwell Zoo.
These are the animals that each class have adopted
- Blue class: Sooty the Goeldi monkey
- Purple class: Wacker the Camel
- Yellow class: Eva the Penguin
- Orange class: Sahara the Sand Cat
- Green class: Chico the Meerkat
The children are very excited about their new adoptions and there will be a plaque outside the zoo's encounter village with each class's name on for everyone to see!
A big thanks to Miss Wilberforce for sorting out these adoptions.
Take a look at Marwell Zoo's web-site to find out about these fantastic animals.

Useful Web-sites
We've been browsing useful parents' web-sites and found a few you may be interested in. I'll drop them into newsletters over the next couple of weeks.
One that really looks at the curriculum is Parentlink. It has good ideas for maths and literacy in each year group and is regularly up-dated.

Cash for Schools Tokens - Twyford Advertiser
Don't forget to cut out the token before you pop the paper in the recycling bin! Tell all your friends and family to collect for us too! We need 200 tokens to be entered and we didn't get very many last week. Thank you!

Box Tops
The closing date for this year's collection is 31st March and its approaching fast. These valuable little tokens actually mean cash for the school so please send in as many as you can. Thank you.

PTA Singalong on Monday!!!
Don't forget to return your sponsor forms for Monday's tuneful event!! We have been practicing our favourite songs and will be raising the rafters as we aim to sing 20 songs!!!!
