Newsletter No. 14

Dear Parents, Carers and Governors,

Are We Nearly There Yet?
I was so proud of our pupils this week - I really hope you were too! Our Christmas nativity was fantastic, with every child involved and enjoying themselves. A big thanks to all the staff, for many hours of preparation and rehearsals. Some of our Year Two children are in the Twyford Advertiser this week, looking very jolly!
Have a look at our web-site for some lovely class photos of the children in costume.

Thanks for your kind donations to our collection at the end of the shows - we raised £200.59 for the Buscott Baby Unit at the Royal Berkshire Hospital. They were delighted and full of thanks when we rang to tell them.

Attendance Figures
I have been reviewing our attendance figures this week and am very pleased with our numbers for this term. Time off for holidays has significantly reduced, which has meant that children have only missed school for genuine illness. Thank you for working with us to ensure every child has the best possible access to education.

Class Parties - Monday afternoon
The children may bring party clothes to change into for Monday afternoon.
We've popped a party food request into everyone's bag today. This helps to sort out who brings what - thanks in advance for your contributions.

Puppet Show - The Happy Prince
After all our hard work, we were entertained today by Cornelius & Jones, who did an atmospheric production of "The Happy Prince" which captivated the children's attention completely. Many thanks to the PTA for funding the annual treat.

School Dinners
As we will be having a roast on Tuesday for our Christmas lunch, next Wednesday will be a fish & chips day instead of the usual roast.

After School Clubs
Judo - begins again on Monday 8th January until Monday 26th March
French - begins again on Monday 8th January until Monday 26th March
Fit n Funky - forms will be coming home outlining the new course for the Spring term
Football - Forms for next term's football are available from the office. Starts on Wednesday 10th January.
Spanish - Forms came home last week for Spanish, which starts on Thursday 10th January

Twyford and District Round Table - Bonfire Carnival Art Competition
Well done to Catriona Blain in Yellow Class for coming first in the 7 and under category of this competition. This is keeping up a good traditional of success for our pupils, as Charlotte Kennedy won the Chairmen's award last year.
Because one of our pupils won, we received a donation of £50 and a copy of Microsoft Digital Image Suite, which is very generous. To see the winning entry, take a look at their web-site.
