Dear Parents, Carers and Governors,

Wokingham Church Schools Service
This week saw the first service for all of the 19 Church of England Schools in Wokingham, which took place at St Mary's Church in Wargrave. The Bishop of Reading, the Rt. Rev. Stephen Cotterell held the children and adults captivated with his take on the Princess and Frog story - the message being that we should all be proud of who we are, as we are all made in God's image.
Our school councillors collected our plaque, which we will display proudly in the school.
Our four Year Two School Councillors, Jack Lawrence, Courtney Welsh, Hayley Sparrow and Laurence Jackman did the school proud, as they collected our new Wokingham Church schools logo, which we will display in our foyer.
Our photos are in the Twyford Advertiser this week for this and our Fruit and Vegetable animals, too.

Yellow Class Assembly
Well done, Yellow Class for your super assembly all about poems & rhymes. And well done to all the friends & family who struggled through the rain to come to watch.

Parent Evening
You should have all received a note indicating a slot for parent evening next Monday or Tuesday. If you have yet to return your note, please do so as these meetings are very important - thank you.

Individual Photos
Please come looking your smartest on Monday, as we have our individual pupil (and staff!) photos being taken. Happy Hours Pre-school are having their individual photos taken on Friday, so please let your child's class teacher know if you are taking your child there for a family photo, as they may be a little late to school. For parents who have requested family portraits, please arrive at 8.20 a.m. If you have an older child who attends the Juniors, please let Mrs Bowen know that they may be a little late for registration.

Our School Web-site
I am delighted to let you know that our web-site is in the process of having a new look and is becoming much more user-friendly! A huge thanks to Mrs Kathy Peck, who has volunteered to support the school in this exciting project. Take a look today and over the next few weeks and you notice a real difference!

Parent Governors
We held a successful election for the role of parent governor. Actually we had 2 spaces, as another governor's time has come to an end. So Mrs Jacqui Staig has been re-elected. Also welcome to Mr Jeremy Eatough, who is Lucy from Green Class's dad. Thank you to both parents for volunteering for this important role.

Bring a Mum or Dad for School Dinner week
This went very well, with many parents enjoying the high quality food. The children loved having their parents in and we had many happy lunchtime sessions. We'll run another week next term - see watch this space! A huge thank you to our cook Mrs Elaine Potter for agreeing to this - we love your cooking 
I've attached a sheet giving details of how lunches should across the country now and how packed lunches can be easily made healthy. If you look on the School Food Trust's web-site www.schoolfoodtrust.org.uk, they give excellent tips on how to make sensible choices.

School Council News
The School Council met again this week and had lots to discuss. The children have chosen two new playground markings that they would like to buy with PTA money - many thanks to the PTA for enabling us to make the playground even more exciting for the children.

The councillors also had a think about which charities they would like the school to support this year. They are keen to support Red Nose Day and Children in Need, but would also like us to try to raise some money to buy a calf through Oxfam Gift-aid. There will be more information on this at a later date.

The School Council has come up with the great idea of a Suggestion Box. Look out for the beautifully painted orange box in Reception. If any pupils, parents or friends of the school have a suggestion they would like to make, the children would be very pleased if you could jot it down and pop it in the Suggestion Box. Any ideas will then be discussed at School Council meetings. Thank you!
