Dear Parents, Carers and Governors,
Harvest Assembly
We are looking forward to our Harvest celebration next Friday - everyone is invited for our first big event of the year. There are a couple of things we'd really appreciate your support with.
- Please help your child create an animal made from fruit or vegetables to bring into the hall on Friday morning. Pop into the office for ideas and inspiration.
- For Harvest 2006, St Mary's Twyford, St James' Ruscombe & Twyford URC have set themselves the target of collecting 1,500 tins to donate to FAITH. What we are looking for is family sized tins of simple food like bake beans, spaghetti, vegetables, fruit. All items must be well within the sell by date.
Friday Clubs
Today saw the start of our fortnightly "Clubs" sessions. Each child can chose which club they would like to attend from the following list :- computers, art, games, library, music and sewing. These clubs will run all term, and then the children will get another choice.
This is super for children having a say in their own learning, and developing their own favoured skills.
School Council
School council had their first meeting this week.
Miss Perkins writes "I was so impressed with the way that all the School Council Members contributed to the meeting this week. It was lovely to see them all together and I look forward to working with them to make important decisions for the school".
Peace assembly with the Junior School
Yesterday saw our first joint event at the Junior school this term as we came together to "Sing for Peace". The children sang beautifully. 250 voices joined together to call for peace throughout the world, was very moving.
After School Clubs
We have a few spaces in some of our clubs at the moment. Please pop into the office if you'd like more information about any of the following
Mondays at 8.00am - Judo
Mondays from3.20-4.20pm - French
Wednesdays from 3.20-4.30pm - Football
Thursdays from 3.20-4.10pm - Spanish
Booster Cushions and Child Seats
You should all have received a letter and a leaflet on Monday about these new regulations. Comprehensive information on the new law is available from the Department of Transport's website at www.thinkroadsafety.gov.uk
Tesco Sports Vouchers
We have made a fantastic start to this year'?s scheme. Please bring in your vouchers to help us purchase more sports equipment for our
pupils.
Childminder Required
One of our parents is seeking the assistance of a childminder to collect her children from school on a Tuesday and Friday only. One child attends Happy Hours (finish 3.15) and one child attends Polehampton Infants (finish 3.20). The parents will collect at 5.00 p.m. Please see Mrs Martin if you are able to assist or you know a qualified childminder who could help. Thank you.
