Dear Parents, Carers and Governors,

Peace Assembly at the Junior School -
2pm Thursday 21st September
Next Thursday is the United Nations International Day of Peace. We have joined together with the Junior School to sing especially written for the day "No War Can Stop Us Singing" and to pray for peace throughout the world. Rev Simon will be joining us, too. If you can help walk us up the Junior School, please see your child's class teacher - thank you!

Children off due to illness
If your child is off with an illness, please contact the school on their first day of absence to let us know. When they return to school, please send in a note so we also have a written record of their absence. Please let us know in advance if you know about any doctor?s/hospital/dentist appointments. We have to keep our information up-to-date, as the Education Welfare Officer regularly checks the records and may want to contact parents if there are gaps. Many Thanks

Parent Volunteers
Do you have any spare time? Could you pop into school to lend a hand? We are always very grateful to have volunteers helping at school; there are so many things you could do -? reading, sewing, cooking, photocopying, helping with displays, the list goes on & on...!
We really welcome help for the first half hour of every morning when we do our reading groups. If you could come once a week, every other week, or the occasional session - everything offer is gratefully received.
Mostly parents prefer to volunteer in their child's class - very occasionally this doesn't suit a child so we may talk to you about how that goes. Indeed some parents prefer helping out elsewhere!
If you can help out, do speak to your child's class teacher and say when would be good times for you.
You will need a CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) check if you become a regular volunteer for our school - please see Mrs Martin to arrange that.

Lost Sweatshirt
A named sweatshirt has gone missing - Please check if you have the wrong one at home. Thank you.

Playground Buddies - Thanks to our Year Two Pupils
Our Year Two children have started to look after our younger ones by being Playground Buddies. The Buddy Bus Stop, which lives outside Green Class playground door, is for children to go to if they would like someone to play with.

Year One & Two Children Coming in to School by Themselves
We do hope now that our pupils have got used to their new classrooms that they can start coming into school by themselves. It's a great opportunity for them to develop their independence. They are quite used to moving around the school during the school day, so I'm sure they'll be fine. Do still pop in if you have a quick message, but let's see if we can encourage the children to come in by themselves.

School Council
The children have elected their new school council and been presented with their badges in celebration assembly today. They will be working with Miss Perkins to be involved in making important decisions about how we do things at school. Their first meeting will be next week when they will be discussing how the council will work. The school councillors for each class are:-
Blue Class Charlotte Beeton and Charlie Indge
Green Class Jasmine Phipps and Tomi Amole
Orange Class Tegan Aplin and William Beale
Purple Class Courtney Welsh and Jack Lawrence
Yellow Class Hayley Sparrow and Laurence Jackman

Next Week's Menu
There appears to be some confusion as to which week we are on. Please note w/c 18th September, we will be on Week 3. We hope this helps!

Fair Processing Notice -? see attached sheets
We have been asked by the Local Authority to pass on this important information to all parents. It explains the types of data held, why that data is held, and to whom it may be passed on. Please do come and see me if you have any further questions about this issue.

Additional Data Collection - see attached sheets
We are also being asked to collect more data on our pupils, so we have attached an additional sheet called Additional Data Collection. We need this for our annual school census, so we would appreciate if you could return this form to be by the end of September. The DFES uses this information so it can best allocate its resources.
