Dear Parents, Carers and Governors,
Polehampton Day - Thursday 8th June
Our first Polehampton Day was fantastic! The Yr5 children performed an excellent play for us, which told us the story of Edward Polehampton and gave us the context for the day. We paraded to the Juniors and had our own time in their playground! Very exciting! It was delightful to see the May-Pole dancing, a great tradition that the Juniors have revived.
And I was so proud of our Yr1 pupils - they did their country dancing with such enthusiasm!!!
It was lovely to see so many friends and family there, many children finding their siblings for the picnic and playtime.
A personal highlight for me was seeing our newest red class boys playing football with the very big Year 6 boys - the older boys were being so careful of the younger boys, whilst ours were giving it all they'd got!!!
Donation from the Trustees
As the Year 5 children described in their play, we are still benefiting from Edward Polehampton's legacy, in the form of cash donations administered by the Polehampton Trustees. Many thanks to them for a kind donation of £1,000 this week. This will help fund the Inter-active Whiteboards (the children know them as Smart boards), which will soon be in every class!
Marwell Zoo Trip
Another exciting event coming up soon is our whole school trip to Marwell Zoo on Wednesday 28th June. Please find attached a letter explaining all the details. Many thanks to the PTA for helping to pay for the coaches.
Next Week is Arts Week
If anyone has any spare time next week, do pop in and help out in class, as we will be very busy indeed and the more hands the better!
Any donations of old hats and water bottles will be kindly received.
Sainsbury and Tesco Vouchers - Any more at home?
These tokens have now finished so we'd like to spend what we have!
Please send in any remaining tokens to add to our total - thanks for all those already received!
Health and Fitness Week - Sports Relief - Now selling the socks!!
We are all getting fit and healthy - oh yes we are!!!! In time for Sports relief, we will be running/hopping/skipping a mile (in a couple of goes for our younger children - and some of the staff!) in the school grounds.
We are now selling Sports Relief Socks for £2 a pair. The children run in the first sock, which says -Doing it? and get presented with the second sock on completion of their mile - this sock says "Done it".
Take a look at their web-site at
www.sportrelief.com
PTA Summer Fair - The Return of the Gunge!
Well, after much arm twisting? There will again be gunging of the staff - the same three volunteers, myself, Mrs Martin and Mrs Cornelius!!! However, we are going to make it more of a challenge. Next week, outside the office, a bottle will appear, which needs to be filled to the marker before there will be gunge anywhere near us! As many gold and silver coins as possible please ? this will be the LAST TIME!!!
PTA disco
Don?t forget to get your ticket for the disco. This term is always very popular as we have the most children in school, so priority will be given to our Year Two pupils as it?s their last one.
World Cup - Now it begins?..
To get in the World Cup spirit, everyone will be allowed to wear sports clothes on any school day that England plays. Definite dates are
? Thursday 15th June
? Tuesday 20th June
We hope there will be more to follow??.
