Newsletter No. 7
Friday 16th October 2009

Dear Parents, Carers and Governors,

Open Day for Year One and Two Parents
It was wonderful to see so many parents yesterday for our open day. I know the children really enjoyed having visitors in their classes and I hope you learned something about what your child gets up to during a typical Thursday.

Parents Evening for Blue Class
We have sent out an appointment slip to all parents who have requested a time today. We really look forward to these meetings, as it is so important to talk about each child’s progress, share ideas for how to support their learning and discuss targets for their future.

Learning Platform Parents meeting and workshops
Don’t forget to come along to our evening meeting on the Wednesday straight after half term – Wednesday 4th November at 7pm. We do still have spaces at all the workshops, which will run after that, so do sign up in the office to book your place on those. Workshop times are:-
* Monday 9th Nov 2 – 3pm
* Wed 11th Nov 9-10am
* Monday 16th Nov 7-8pm

Please Label everything!
We already have a large collection of unnamed cardigans and sweatshirts in the lost property, which we can’t return to the right child. Please make sure all your child’s possessions are clearly named, particularly taking care if you’ve written in pen as these wash out and become difficult to read – thank you.

Next Friday – Non-uniform day
Next week, we will be using the donations to buy additional maths games.
Thank you for your £1 voluntary contributions.

Individual School Photos
Today the children had their individual pictures taken, you will find their proof and order form in their school bags.  To avoid a late order payment please make sure you returned your order to the office by 9.00am  on Friday 6th November.  You are under no obligation to purchase your child’s photo.

Eco-News
Eco Team would like to say well done and thank you to everyone who entered the  ‘Frog Competition’. We had over 100 entries – lots of wonderful work!

Request from Mrs Winthrop & Eco-Team
Does anyone have a DVD or VHS copy of the animation:- “The Man Who Planted Trees” that the school  could borrow.

Free School Meal for every child in Foundation Stage
This week all reception children have been given a free school meal voucher to encourage them to have school dinners.  When using your voucher please can you put the date and your child’s name on the reverse.

PTA News - Christmas Cards
Each child will have received a Christmas card design sheet this week. Please remember that we need these sheets back by next Friday (before half term) to allow enough time to get a sample made of each one, that can then be sent home for you to view before placing any orders. So why not get into the festive spirit early – for one weekend only! – and help your child design your family Christmas card for this Christmas? If you need another sheet for brothers or sisters please ask at the office.

Local Weather Forecast

Sunny Intervals all weekend!

Best wishes
