FINAL NEWSLETTER for 2007 - 2008

Thank you!
I would like to take this last opportunity of the year to say a huge thanks to everyone who has worked so hard to make this school the success it is – parents, governors, the staff at St. Mary’s church and of course the children. There have been so many events this year to reflect upon; the Ofsted report reflected the significant progress the school has made, the fabulous new play equipment was installed which is real investment and loved by all the children, so many trips, PTA events and school celebrations. It’s been a busy, wonderful year.
Thanks to everyone who has sent in cards, presents and said kind words over the last few days – it’s lovely to know it’s all been appreciated!
I would like to say a particular thanks to all the staff – the energy, enthusiasm and commitment you show, day in and day out, creates the most exciting learning environment. Thank you and have a well earned rest!

Cash for schools
Thanks to Mrs Dobson, we put our tokens together with the junior school and managed to collect enough to be a winner. A cheque of £476.19 will be divided equally between the 2 schools.

Sports Day photos in Thursday’s Advertiser
Keep an eye on the paper this week, as we’ve been assured that we’ll appear in the Sports Day section.

Consultation on Age of Admission
Thanks to those parents who returned the consultation on admissions – I have included the findings in my Headteacher report. We received 25 responses. Of those the majority of parents who responded (15) preferred the option of two points of entry at age four in the autumn and spring terms.  6 parents would prefer one point of entry age 4, with 2 parents each preferring the options offering a later start – one point of entry straight into year 1 or 3 points of entry after the 5th birthday.
Lots of really valuable comments were also written, which I summarised in my report. We should hear back about the initial findings in the Autumn, with a recommendation going to the Council in the Spring term.

Good-bye and Have a Lovely Summer!
Year Two – we wish you well as you go on the next stage of your learning adventure!
Year One and Foundation Stage – we look forward to welcoming you back in September!

School starts for everyone on Wednesday 3rd September.
