Newsletter No. 36
Friday 27th June 2008

Dear Parents, Carers and Governors,

Ofsted Report
You should have all received your copy of our Ofsted report on Wednesday. I thought the letter to the children was lovely, they were very pleased to have their own copy. We do have spare copies in our leaflet rack just outside the office or you can click here to download a copy.

One thing just to clarify – in the report document, our one point for action has been written just under the foundation stage section. However, it is meant for the whole school. We are delighted with this action point, as it is an area we have already been working on and this will allow us to continue with our exciting curriculum development.

Sports Day
There was such a lovely atmosphere yesterday. I was very impressed with the way the children participated and all enjoyed themselves. A big thanks to Mrs Cornelius for organising and leading the way!!

Consultation on Admission Age to School
The local authority is currently consulting on the age of admission to school. They are selecting a range of pre-school, infant, junior and primary school parents to consult, as well as headteachers, governors, child-minders and pre-schools. As our school hasn’t been selected for parental consultation, I would like to include your views in my headteacher report, so the local opinions can be taken into consideration. If you could take a look at the attached sheet (available to download below) and send back your replies as soon as possible, I would be very grateful.

Foundation Stage Trip
What a great day blue and red class had on Wednesday this week!! They learnt so much and behaved very well. Thanks to all the volunteers who helped out on the day.

Year Two and Five Buddies
I have to tell you about a great new idea that the year five buddies have been working on this year. When they came down last week, they all found out some things about their buddy. Back at school, they made a book for their buddies, writing them as the main character and including some details about them personally. These books will be kept at the junior school for when they arrive, but each child received their own copy to bring back to school. You can imagine how proud our children felt to have their own book!! A great idea, Year Five teachers!!!

School Uniform
Please can you make sure that all your children’s clothes are clearly labelled – thank you.

Red Class in the mornings
Miss Wiid would like Red class to all try to come into the classroom by themselves from next week. This will be good for the children to build their independence before the holidays.

Year Two trip to the Look-out Discovery Centre
Any outstanding trip letters for the year two trip – please return as soon as possible, as we cannot take your child without a note.

Vouchers
Please return any vouchers or tokens you have at how, as it’s count up time!!
Twyford Advertiser, Active Kids from Sainbury’s and Tesco’s computer tokens are all due in now.

Foundation Stage cake sale
This was a resounding success - £132.26!!! An extraordinary amount of money! I think having a treat after sports day was good timing ? Thanks for all the donations and to those who organised it.

Bottle Tombola
This year we will be collecting bottles for our tombola and also for the children’s tombola  e.g wine, lemonade, tomato ketchup etc (no second hand or used items please).  Contributions for both can be brought into the school now.
There will be no Year-Group hampers.

Twyford Comets
Twyford Comets are Twyford's only Youth Football Club.  We have teams at all age groups from under 7 to under 16, and are well represented in all local football leagues.
The current under 7's squad are looking for boys and girls to come along and play football, and have great fun at the same time.  Boys and girls from reception and years 1 and 2 are all welcome, especially year 2 as they will hopefully form a league side in September.
Training takes place on Saturday mornings at 10.15 until 11.15 at King George's Field, cost £2 per session.  Please just turn up on any Saturday morning, or contact one of the following for further information.
