Newsletter No. 34
Friday 13th June 2008

Dear Parents, Carers and Governors,

Well this has been a busy week!!!! An inspection, arts week, the arrival of the boat and Polehampton Day! We’ve all worked so hard, learned lots of new things and had lots of fun; I feel very proud of everyone, indeed

Ofsted Inspection
I would like to say a huge thank to everyone for all the hard work and support! All the staff received so many kind and encouraging comments from parents, so many of you popped in to help out and we had an excellent return on the parent questionnaire. I would like to thank all the staff for their commitment and focus during this intense period.
The report should be out within 2˝ weeks – I will let you have it as soon as possible.

Happy Polehampton Day!
What a fantastic day we’ve had today!
The Year Five children did a marvellous play about Edward Polehampton and some brilliant may-pole dancing. Our Year Ones did a great African dance. The sun shone and we had a relaxing picnic altogether. How lovely to be able to get our two schools together!

Arts Week
The children have excelled themselves with their creativity and exploration of different art forms this week. Rosie Smith, our artist in residence, has given us some fabulous ideas for art, particularly looking at Tanzania. There is a new display being created on the large hall board – do pop in and take a look.
The whole school was bouncing on Tuesday, when Thabani came to run African dance workshops for every class. There is a picture in the week’s Twyford Advertiser which captures the fun very well!

The New Boat
The final piece of our new equipment arrived on Wednesday this week – our new boat! The children have asked the PTA to name the boat, so we will see what they come up with!

Can you help?
Next Tuesday afternoon, the year two children will be going to the Piggott Senior School for a multi skills PE competition. If any parents could accompany us for that session, we’d be most grateful. Please let Mrs Smith or Mrs Palmer know if you can help.

Red Class Teaching Assistant
I do apologise for not informing you last week about the change in staffing in Red Class. Miss Williams had to leave rather suddenly, but I am delighted that we’ve been able to find a new teaching assistant, Mrs Wiid, who will be with Red Class until the end of term.

Year Two trip to the Look-out Discovery Centre
