Dear Parents, Carers and Governors,

Welcome to Red class!
It has been lovely to welcome all our new children into  school this week, they have all settled in so well. We now have 159 children in school!

Non-uniform Day
Thanks for your contributions today – we are saving towards our arts week project.

Mrs Pottytree and Her Flying Carpet
Written by Jo Bryant – Eliza in Blue Class’s mum!!! Illustrated by Deborah Tait.
I am delighted to announce that one of our parents Jo Bryant, has just become a published author of a fantastic children’s story book called “Mrs Pottytree and Her Flying Carpet”. Another reason I’m so pleased is that Jo worked in our school to develop her ideas for the book and has dedicated the book to us – we’re mentioned in the book itself!!! Jo is offering signed copies of the book for sale through the school office and the school will receive £2 per book sold. We have copies in the office if you’d like to take a look before you buy.

Here’s a brief blurb.
It is a sunny day and so Mrs Pottytree decides to test-drive her magic carpet. The children at her school discover the rules to make it fly and before they know it, the carpet is soaring through the sky. As they reach the sea, the carpet unexpectedly starts jerking from side to side. Mrs Pottytree loses her balance, and with a large ‘gwahh’ she tumbles over the edge. Luckily she manages to just catch hold of the carpet’s edge with her finger tips…

Mrs Pottytree and her Flying Carpet is not like other stories. It is an interactive book where your children are presented with a dilemma to solve. Find a colourful towel or old rug and see if you can save the day. Read on and discover if your ending is the same as ours!

Full of beautiful illustrations, exciting adventures and further activities, Mrs Pottytree and Her Flying Carpet is available now.

The price is £8.99, with £2 going to the school – many thanks, Jo!

Year Two Library books
Over the next three weeks, Year Two will be having library sessions with our new volunteer, Pamela Bromley, who used to be a schools librarian. They will then be taking library books home and changing them on a weekly basis.

Good News –The Fitness Trail work start on Monday!
New work on the new fitness trail has been moved forwards a week, so work will start next Monday. The company who have built and are installing the equipment are a very reputable firm – “Field Work Rest and Play”. They are fully aware of all the health and safety precautions they need to take working on site with little children.  They will cordan off the area with orange fencing as and where they need to. Any coming and going will be done when the children are inside or out of the area. We will have additional supervision for play and lunchtimes. We just need your help with ensuring that you supervise your children really well before and after school – thank you!!

The Farm visits Polehampton Infant School
On a very sunny/rainy day, we were delighted to have the farm visit school yesterday. We will be adding photos to the web-site so do take a look and see what we’ve been up to.

Road Safety
We are currently monitoring the roads around school. Whilst we always hope there are no incidents, we would really appreciate it if you could let us know if anything does happen in the area surrounding the school - incidents such as speeding drivers or near misses. We can then pass this information to the local authority so they have an accurate picture of school road safety in our area. Please either tell Jim, our lollipop man or let someone in the office know and we will keep a record. Thank you.
