Newsletter No. 23
Friday 7th March 2008

Dear Parents, Carers and Governors,

Polehampton Junior School Ofsted Report
The Governing Body of the Junior School would like to share their OFSTED report with you. Mrs Montie says “ It is a pleasure to share our recent OFSTED report with all the parents and carers, staff and children of the Infant School.  I hope you enjoy reading it”.

Parent and Governor Consultation on the next School Improvement Plan
Thanks to those who wrote in suggestions or were able to attend this session last night. We had a really interesting discussion, with lots of ideas that we can work on to improve the school further. As our Chair of Governors, Mrs Debbie Richards said, she was pleased that there were no significant or fundamental issues that arose that need immediate or urgent attention; most ideas seemed to be things we could steadily work on or smaller things that might be quick to change. I will write a summary of our work so far for next week’s newsletter.

Sports Relief Socks - £2 a pair
These are going fast, so do pop in if you still need to get yours.

A Trainers reminder!!
A quick reminder that we are now moving over to wearing trainers for outside PE lessons. Some Blue class children have no outdoor PE shoes yet, so if you could check what your child has in school, that would be super. We’re planning to do our Sports Relief miles next week, so as we come out of the winter months, we want to be sure everyone has PE footwear that fits. Again, please avoid expensive brand names, so the children don’t worry about who has what!

Easter Bonnets and Baskets Parade
As usual we will be holding our Easter Bonnet and Basket parade as part of our Easter assembly on Thursday 20th March. These are things for the children to make at home and bring in on the day. They can make both or one item, depending how keen they are!

Twyford and Ruscombe Pre-school
On Friday 14th March Twyford and Ruscombe Pre-school is holding an open morning for all prospective parents and their children. This a great opportunity to find out more about this thriving pre-school, which has been established in the heart of the village for over 40 years. Committee members will be on hand for a relaxed chat over a cup of tea and toys will be available to entertain the little ones. The open morning is being held in the Annexe at Loddon Hall (enter through the main front doors) between 0930—1100.  If you’re not able to attend but would like further information about the pre-school (prospectus, application form and Ofsted report)  please phone 0776 9916 800.We look forward to seeing you.

Tesco Computers for Schools Recycling Scheme
As well as collecting vouchers we are also taking part in Tesco’s recycling scheme.  By filling in the schools details on the recycle envelope being sent out today, you will enable the school to purchase more equipment for our IT suite.
